BLOG FOR THE SOUL
Quote of the month: "It is necessary to own and honor the child who we were in order to Love the person we are. And the only way to do that is to own that child's experiences, honor that child's feelings, and release the emotional grief energy that we are still carrying around."~Robert Burney author of “Codependence: The Dance of Wounded Souls”
Since I’m going to be talking on a podcast about an aspect of healing from abuse, I thought I’d share about this topic more. I do a great deal of research on the healing of childhood abuse. I want to be aware of the influx of discoveries and changes in the field and to integrate some of these into my private practice as well as in revising the Moving Beyond Abuse book.
I appreciate listening to those who have been involved professionally--therapists, psychologists and other experienced healing practitioners--with their diverse perspectives, genuine compassion, and skillful and caring experiences. There is such an openness and invitation to join the dialogue, even in disagreement.
In March, one of the therapist’s was on a video and spoke about how to help clients work with resistance in feeling grief that keeps people stuck in a depressed place due to trauma. The therapist shared an example of such a client. In order to help the client out of the ‘firey’ hot place that she had been living in, the therapist gave her an 'opportunity' of freedom by climbing up ‘a hot ladder out of that hell’. The therapist would be at the top of that ladder with her hand waiting as the client ascended out of that hell. Though the therapist wasn’t in the ‘hot hole’ with her, she was ready and available to help her near the top as the client allowed the climb out of grief to occur.
Do you hear something off with this?
For me, in hearing how the therapist used a ‘metaphor’ to help her client ‘out’ of trauma (or in supporting feelings), and not fully realizing that the client was experiencing an emotional freeze state from the past, (or the therapist’s metaphor of ‘burning’), the therapist had positioned herself 'above' the client, waiting for the client to reach her and her resources.
Somehow, this particular metaphor use, and the way the therapist positioned herself in the story, lacked awareness of the healing of trauma that supported inner bonding and inner resourcing. I feel that a therapist (or practitioner like a ThetaHealer) in any position that could be experienced as an ‘authority figure’, ‘expert’ and ‘above’ the client, can lead to the reinforcement of an unequal power structure and outer reliance on resources that really need to be built within.
In-other-words, this is a hierarchal structure of healing. This is different than what is possible if the therapist was on co-equal grounds in helping to access the inner needs of the client. This is not a 7th Plane awareness of how love can flow within. It creates more dependency or possibly co-dependence on the therapist rather than building an inner structure through the development of the 'love' bonding/connection within.
The inner resource connection is often the Inner Child, that younger aspect who got frozen in the past, and was unable to feel or allow for her grief. Accessing this part is how the inner world can be navigated. Safety, trust, and inner connection between the Inner child, an available adult aspect all through connection with All-That-Is, becomes the foundation for resilient growth, deep transformation and Source-aligned intuition. This would have helped resource within and help build virtues without thinking that the client needed to find this through a dependent relationship outside themselves.
I’m not saying that we don’t need outer connections as support in our lives, but in the healing of abuse, that comes when the inner connection is established too. To me, when psychology is devoid of the spiritual awareness, it doesn’t address what has affected the sub/unconscious in more balanced or non-hierarchal ways.
In working with those who have severe trauma, and being one who’s experienced this as well, I deeply wondered why the therapist was attempting to address grief when fear, shame, terror, or horror could really have been the blockers holding the depression in place depending on what happened. I wondered how any child would experience needing to grieve as the primary emotion in the midst of being physically harmed initially. The context of healing just seemed out of place in what was presented in the video.
And using such an example of hell and hot ladders without knowing the depth of issues in the unconscious, could have been a huge graphic trigger for those who have complex, serial trauma.
What would have been the possibility of having available resources next to the client? The Unity/Creator energy and the adult within could just rescue that inner child from the past.
Honestly, I wonder how many really need a metaphorical hot ladder to climb to safety anyways?! With belief work, safety can arrive when the present moment becomes the focal point of remembering, rather than reliving it from the past.
There is always a reason that resistance is held in place in the healing of child abuse. Understanding the resistance, supporting the connection with the Inner child, releasing the service of what the resistance within the child is doing, giving Creator’s teachings to bring safety in shifting to the present, and clearing rather than positioning in an unequal way, can lead to more heartfelt inner connections and an opportunity to allow space for when the feelings are ready to arise. We all deserve to learn how to resource from within so we can develop skills to live interdependent lives.
I hope that all of you will lend support in listening to the podcast on May 21st. I haven’t spoken on someone else’s podcast in 5 years.
With care and awareness,
I extracted possible ‘theme’ beliefs from the story. Energy test yourself for them, practice clearing through digging if applicable, check if they are your ancestors’ beliefs, and use Creator's teachings including the ones below if they fit.
*Dependence on the outer makes the inner world safer.
*Hierarchal healing supports my empowerment.
*I need to be ‘above’ my client so they know how I can help them.
*I need someone ‘above’ me so I can be safe to feel.
*Safety has to be found above me. (obligation)
*Safety is found above who I am.
*God is above me. (real truth: God just Is)
*I need to be rescued by someone outside of myself.
*Being resistant to my feelings needs support that is difficult to reach for.
Helpful Creator’s teachings/downloads
I know what it feels like to, how to, when to, that it's possible, that I can, I do (or I am/am able to be):
*Listen to my client’s needs without being positioned above them.
*Safe to be co-equal with my client’s inner world.
*To have support and guidance to rescue hurt parts of myself within
*I’m worthy/deserving/good enough to have support and guidance to rescue hurt parts of myself within
*That Creator is part of my journey and daily life wherever I am and wherever I go.
*To experience a love bond between my adult part and any wounded aspect in my inner world
*Be gentle with acknowledging my resistant feeling knowing they will release themselves
*Live without safety being out of my reach
The Remains of a 200,000 year old Advanced Civilization found in Africa
According to researcher Michael Tellinger, the Sumerians and even the Egyptians inherited all their knowledge from an earlier advanced civilization that lived at the southern tip of Africa more than 200,000 years ago… mining gold. These were also the people who carved the first Horus bird, an image of the Egyptian Ankh – key of life and universal knowledge, the first Sphinx, detailed images into the hardest rock, built the first pyramids, built an exact stone calendar right in the heart of it all, worshipped the sun 200,000 years before the Egyptians came to light.
Hunza people live to 120 years
About 87,000 Hunza people live in the mountains of northern Pakistan. Many of them live to be 120 to 160 years old without experiencing any health problems. They have a very youthful look, and some of the women have given birth at 65. They have been studied because of their lifestyle, food and water all gaining longevity from these factors.

Massive Subterranean Caves of China
Reed Flute Cave, known as the “Palace of Natural Arts,” is located in southern China. According to a legend, Reed Flute Cave got its name because the reeds by the cave’s mouth could be made into flutes. The limestone cave offers a majestic fairyland of stalactites, stalagmites, stone pillars, birds, and plants in fantastic shapes and colors. Inside, there are more than 70 inscriptions in ink, which date back as far as 792 AD in the Tang Dynasty. These aged inscriptions tell us that it has been an attraction in Guilin since ancient times. The lights are hidden in the cracks and crevices of the space, and the effect is almost surreal, as the lights turn the otherwise dark space into a strange mix of bright neon colors and rough natural shades.
